Who We Are

The purpose of the Seacoast Christian Home Educators' Association (SCHEA) is to provide support, inspiration and information to Christian homeschool families in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire. The organization and all of its' activities and publications will be consistently and forthrightly Christian to the honor and glory of the Lord God. The primary purpose of SCHEA is to provide support and inspiration to member families who have chosen to home educate their children. Activities which SCHEA may organize to provide support and inspiration include, but are not limited to: prayer, regular meetings, newsletters, seminars, conferences, workshops, outings and field trips. SCHEA also exists to provide information about local, state and national activities, events and legislation which may be of interest to home educators or which may effect home education.

End of Year Reporting

As copied from a HSLDA alert:

Your child's annual evaluation is due to your participating agency by July 1st. According to New Hampshire law, a parent must provide an annual evaluation documenting "educational progress at a level commensurate with the child's age and ability." Parents have the following four evaluation options:

1. Certified or current nonpublic schoolteacher portfolio review and
written evaluation
2. Any national student achievement test, administered by a person who
meets the qualifications established by the publisher or provider of
the test (composite score at the 40th percentile or above indicates reasonable academic proficiency);
3. A state student assessment test used by a resident district (composite results at the 40th percentile or above indicate reasonable academic proficiency); or
4. Any other valid measurement tool mutually agreed upon by the parent and participating agency.

If a home education evaluation is not submitted by July 1, the participating agency is required to notify the parent that unless the evaluation is submitted by July 15, the home education program will be placed on probation.

Homeschool Theatre Guild's 2008 Performance

Much Ado about Nothing
7:00 pm April 25 and 26
10:00 am Matinee Friday, April 25
Rochester Opera House.

This year’s offering from the Homeschool Theatre Guild is Shakespeare’s clever comedy Much Ado about Nothing. Set in a sunny garden in Messina, Italy, Much Ado introduces us to an entire community of intriguing characters who make “much ado” about their neighbors’ business. The cast is peopled by: young lovers, the determined bachelor and his lady nemesis, the distinguished soldier, the inept constable and his bumbling assistant, the scheming villain, and a host more. Teetering on the verge of tragedy, Much Ado manages to hang on to comedy through the quick thinking of a caring friar. However, the determined bachelor does NOT manage to hang onto his single status, much to the delight of his friends and the audience. This year the Homeschool Young Actors will be accompanied by a small live orchestra under the direction of homeschooler Vanessa Polychronis, who has also composed music for this production. We look forward to seeing you at the Opera House! Tickets for the evening performance are $5 per person, with a cap of $20 per family. Matinee tickets are $3 per person. For more information, you can contact Sue Zelie at 664-5896 or at zelie@metrocast.net
